Burr recently represented PRC Laser Corp as the company plans to invest $1.4 million into a new facility in Charleston County, SC. PRC, a company founded in 1985 that builds industrial lasers, produces carbon-dioxide and fiber lasers that are used for cutting and welding. The majority of the plant will be dedicated to fiber laser production, which is the fastest-growing sector of the market positions, on their website.

The new 40,000 square foot facility will be located at the Palmetto Commerce Park in North Charleston and will create 73 jobs by June.

“Our state-of-the-art industrial laser products, global service network and U.S.-based manufacturing combine to create many growth opportunities for customers and employees,” PRC president Walter Wilson said in a statement. “We look forward to helping make the Lowcountry a hub for industrial laser products for both the North American and global markets.”

The company plans to list the available jobs, which will include engineering, production and sales. The PRC’s job development credits that will lower the company’s tax bill as it hires workers, has been approved by South Carolina’s Coordinating Council for Economic Development.

Charleston partner George Morrison worked closely with PRC with its expansion and negotiation of tax incentive packages from the state and county.
