Burr’s Beth Shirley Receives Certified Information Privacy Manager “CIPM” Certification

Birmingham Partner Elizabeth B. Shirley recently passed the IAPP CIPM exam to become a certified privacy manager. The Certified Information Privacy Manager is offered by the International Association of Privacy Professionals. According to the IAPP, this certification designates you as a leader in privacy program administration, gives you the understanding of how to implement privacy programs in day-to-day operations, and an understanding of maintaining and managing a privacy program across all stages of its life cycle.

At Burr, Beth serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Industry Team. Her practice is devoted to helping clients comply with the evolving privacy regulations in the U.S. and abroad, preparing privacy notices and policies, and operating privacy programs. Her practice also includes the full scope of handling data incidents and breaches, including advising on negotiating ransom demands from threat actors, retaining vendors to investigate and remediate systems, reporting activity to appropriate authorities, and sending any required notifications to consumers.
