David Morgan, research and competitive intelligence specialist at Burr & Forman, was recognized by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly in its 2022 Unsung Heroes Awards, which honors professionals who do indispensable work to make their law firms successful.

As leader of market research and competitive intelligence efforts across the firm’s 20 offices, Morgan is known as “an invaluable part of the team.” He is responsible for providing insight and analysis of clients’ and potential clients’ business activities, leadership profiles, strategic objectives, and industry outlooks. The information and perspective Morgan ascertains are essential to the firm’s client relationships, business development efforts, and quality of representation.

A former teacher with a background in library science, a part of Morgan’s role includes helping conduct case research for attorneys and ensuring all relevant court decisions and legal precedents are known and presented to counsel.

“I feel proud whenever I’m told my research had a meaningful impact, such as when an attorney informs me that something I uncovered helped craft a winning argument, or when the business development team tells me the research I did helped win new business,” Morgan said.
