Presenter, "Litigating Truth and Lies," Nashville Bar Association Virtual CLE
Litigation is often described as a search for the truth. So, it’s not surprising when lawsuits that set out to prove a statement is false make for particularly complex litigation.
This seminar will cover the perils, pitfalls, and practical aspects of litigating a case that stems from (what one side believes is) a lie. This will include the basics of defamation law, related causes of action, procedural obstacles and defenses such as the recently enacted Tennessee Public Participation Act, and collateral issues that affect clients outside the courtroom when they seek to litigate “truth” inside it.
