Chattanooga Times Free Press Features Alex Little and Zack Lawson's Presentation on New Tennessee Hemp Regulations
Chattanooga Times Free Press highlighted a presentation by Burr & Forman attorneys Alex Little and Zack Lawson related to new hemp regulations coming to Tennessee in a Jan. 31, 2024 article.
Distributors, growers and retailers convened at the Hemp Law Roadshow in Chattanooga, where Little and Lawson discussed concerns from Tennessee hemp growers and sellers about new statewide regulations on the testing, production and sale of hemp-derived products.
Among other rules, the proposed regulations have a "total THC" standard that would require products to test under .3% for combined delta-9 and THCa compounds, which some retailers report would make up to 65% of Tennessee hemp products they sell illegal.
"The administrative burden on you guys is going to be very, very high," Little told growers and sellers during the presentation. Little went on to say that the regulations are similar to those for alcohol or tobacco, though a little stricter. It's a sign "the industry is growing up," Little added.
